Airport Authority Adds Tom Jurkovich to Senior Team

Public Affairs Veteran Named Vice President of Strategic Communications and External Affairs

​NASHVILLE ─ The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) today announced Tom Jurkovich as its new vice president of Strategic Communications and External Affairs. A veteran government affairs and communications professional with more than 30 years of experience in myriad leadership positions, Jurkovich is responsible for directing MNAA’s array of communications and external outreach efforts in order to strengthen relationships between the airports and its stakeholders, business partners, government agencies and the Middle Tennessee community.

“Tom has had a significant impact everywhere he’s served —from leading Metro’s economic and community development office to his work in the corporate sector and significant roles at the federal level,” said Rob Wigington, president and CEO of MNAA. “His varied experience, proven judgment and extensive relationships make him an ideal addition to our senior leadership team. He will play a prominent role as our airports continue to grow and meet the demands of the thriving Nashville community. We are thrilled to welcome him to the MNAA team.”

Prior to joining MNAA, Jurkovich served as vice president of Corporate Affairs for the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation for the past four years, where he led the group responsible for developing and implementing communications, public and media relations, and government affairs strategies and activities.

Jurkovich is perhaps best known for his successful tenure as director of the Mayor’s Office of Economic and Community Development in the Bill Purcell Administration. He has also held a variety of other significant posts in his career including heading Nashville Mayor Karl Dean’s Office of Flood Recovery, government affairs manager with Microsoft Corporation, Staff Director with the House of Representatives Administration Committee, and Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Commerce. He began his career practicing law with the renowned firm of Fulbright and Jaworski in Houston, Texas.

Jurkovich has previously served as a member of numerous boards within the Middle Tennessee community, including the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and Nashville Downtown Partnership. He was also a previous member of MNAA’s Board of Commissioners while serving
in the Purcell Administration. He earned his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and his law degree from the University Of Tennessee College Of Law.
