Today, we celebrate more than an anniversary; we celebrate the legacy of the John C. Tune Airport®, also known as JWN®.
Named after John C. Tune, a founding chairman of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority and a key advocate for aviation in Middle Tennessee, JWN opened on July 20, 1986, and over the last 40 years, it has grown into one of the busiest general aviation and reliever airports in Tennessee.
To recognize this milestone, MNAA executives, staff, members of the MNAA Board of Commissioners, David Tune, John C. Tune`s son, and John C. Tune II, his grandson, gathered to celebrate JWN`s legacy and impact on the region.
JWN stands as one of the region`s most important general aviation assets — a modern, resilient facility shaped by decades of expansion, innovation, and community partnership. We look forward to the next 40 years and beyond.

Did you hear? @southwestair just announced four new nonstop destinations from BNA®! Starting March 2027, Southwest Airlines will fly nonstop to the following locations:
🌽Des Moines, Iowa
🛩️Wichita, Kansas
🌴Aruba
🐬St. Thomas
Furthermore, they are increasing service to Punta Cana, and San Juan, offering daily flights starting March 2027 and continuing service to Liberia, into March.
