Nashville International Airport Breaks Record for Number of Departing Passengers in a Single Day

More than 23,800 departing passengers on June 13, 2016

NASHVILLE – With the departure of CMA Music Festival and Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival attendees, more than 23,800 passengers departed Nashville International Airport on Monday, June 13. This officially sets a new record at BNA for number of passengers departing in a single day, a fifteen percent increase over the previous record.

Moreover, thanks to fully staffed TSA security lines and an organized effort utilizing other airport personnel, wait times through the federal screening lines never exceeded 15 minutes, with most passengers in line less than ten minutes.

“We want to commend all who contributed to the smooth and efficient experience at Nashville International Airport the last few days”, said Rob Wigington, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. “TSA, the airlines, Airport Authority employees, and of course, our fantastic Flying Aces volunteers all ramped up to make sure that the record number of visitors to Nashville had a fast and easy departure from BNA. The festival goers came here to have a good time, and it was important that they all left on a high note.”

By the numbers:

  • Sunday, June 12: 20,751 departing passengers, 10 percent increase from 2015
  • Monday, June 13:
