Airport Authority and SkyWest Airlines Open Newest Hangar at BNA
NASHVILLE ─ May 25, 2017 ─ The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) and SkyWest Airlines today officially opened its newest hangar at Nashville International Airport (BNA).
The new hangar is 90,000 square feet, with 100,000 square feet of ramp space, and located on nine acres at Nashville International Airport. SkyWest Airlines will be relocating from their current BNA hangar to the new facility, with operations beginning in June.
“We are thrilled to officially open our newest BNA hangar and welcome our long-term partner, SkyWest Airlines, as our first official tenant in the new space,” said Rob Wigington, MNAA president and CEO. “The opening of this new facility is further tangible evidence of the growth we are experiencing at Nashville International Airport. We look forward to more celebrations and ribbon cuttings as we move forward with BNA Vision, our growth and expansion plan for the airport.”
With more than 75 maintenance professionals at BNA, SkyWest will service up to 10 aircraft every night at the new facility. The award-winning airline is hiring proficient maintenance technicians to staff the larger facility and increased aircraft overnights. Work will be completed on each of SkyWest’s aircraft types, including the Embraer-manufactured E175 and Bombardier-manufactured CRJ900, CRJ700 and CRJ200.
“With six years of maintenance at BNA, we’re very excited to open this highly anticipated hangar,” said Bill Dykes, Vice President of Maintenance at SkyWest Airlines. “The new, expanded state-of-the-art facility will help us keep our growing fleet in top condition.”
The project was delivered by Messer with design support services provided by Garver Engineering, Inc., AECOM, Logan Patri, I.C. Thomasson, KS Ware and LI Smith.
