Arts at the Airport and Bonnaroo Works Fund Partner for Third Annual Bonnaroo-Themed Skylights Exhibition at BNA

NASHVILLE – The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority’s (MNAA) Arts at the Airport and the Bonnaroo Works Fund, in celebration of the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, are partnering once again for the third annual Bonnaroo-themed skylight exhibition at Nashville International Airport (BNA). Artist proposals for site-specific sculptures or kinetic mobiles are now being accepted through Nov. 15, 2015. Five winners will be selected Dec.14, 2015.

“Proposals from the past two years have been nothing less than exceptional, and the winning displays enhanced the Nashville Airports Experience for our passengers, business partners and employees,” said Rob Wigington, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. “This year we anticipate even more inspiring proposals that both reflect our Arts at the Airport program and showcase Bonnaroo’s impact on our statewide community.”

The selected displays will suspend from the ceiling and encompass five skylights located on each of the three concourses at BNA, beginning March 14, 2016, through January 22, 2017. Artists are being asked for proposals that will include iconic festival elements, a nod to Bonnaroo’s home base in Manchester, Tenn., and recognition of the festival’s unique Bonnaroovian Code. The winning artists will each receive a $2,000 honorarium and have their art displayed for the duration of the program.

“The Arts at the Airport program is just one example of why we established the Bonnaroo Works Fund,” said festival co-producer Ashley Capps. “This program encourages and supports arts and artists while underscoring our commitment to Bonnaroo’s home state. I cannot think of a better way to be welcomed to Nashville than with the outstanding installations that are selected each year.”

The project is funded by Arts at the Airport and the Bonnaroo Works Fund, the charitable arm of the internationally acclaimed festival. More details and full proposal requirements can be found at www.flynashville.com, www.callforentry.org or www.bonnarooworksfund.org.

About Bonnaroo Works Fund:
The Bonnaroo Works Fund was established in 2009 with a mission to make the world a better place through its support of nonprofit organizations that advance the arts, education and environmental sustainability, with a focus on local reinvestment and asset building in the communities where we work, live and play. Organizations interested in grants can apply on-line at http://www.bonnaroowoksfund.org/. The next grant cycle will begin this fall.

Bonnaroo Works Fund was created by the festival founders to foster a philanthropic spirit year-round that is so prevalent during the four-day festival – and to give back to the communities that give us so much.

Two dollars from every Bonnaroo ticket is donated to Bonnaroo Works Fund, and generous fans also help support BWF through the on-site Silent Auction, the Roo Run (a 5K during the festival) and other activations such as Art for Roo, Soundwaves and Not-A-Raffle.
