BNA® Addresses COVID-19
NOTICE: Masks or Face Coverings are Required at BNA by Federal Law (effective 11:59 p.m., ET, 2/1/21). Failure to wear face coverings could result in denial of entry or re-entry, and violations could result in penalties. Thank you in helping us protect each other.
At Nashville International Airport®, the safety and well-being of all our stakeholders —passengers, employees, business partners — is our highest priority. In response to the pandemic, we’ve developed and implemented a robust plan to keep the airport a clean and safe environment for everyone and are following federal and CDC guidelines.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: As of 11:59 p.m. ET, Feb. 1, 2021, federal law requires a mask or face covering to be worn while in the terminal. Details are Here and Here.
More information about COVID-19 and BNA:
With more folks now looking to fly again, take a look at our “Back to Business” document setting out many activities at the airport. (And for Nashville/Davidson County updates, visit https://www.asafenashville.org).
Some of the cleaning highlights: In addition to our usual routine cleaning activities, the following actions have been put in place at BNA:
- An enhanced 24-hour/365-day program that adheres to CDC guidelines, including focused cleaning and disinfecting touchpoints using an EPA-approved cleaning agent as described in the link below.
- Restrooms are closed every two hours for cleaning and disinfecting.
- Hand sanitizers (62% alcohol) are located in the terminal.
- Airline gate areas are cleaned regularly throughout the day, including following the last flight.
- Ventilation systems are specifically cleaned on a defined schedule.
- Plexiglass shields have been added at airline ticket counters as an added safety measure.

Face coverings/masks are required to be worn in the terminal per federal law. Cloth face masks are available at BNA at no cost (while supplies last). Passengers may request them at airline ticket counters and the North and South Security Checkpoints. BNA also reminds travelers to socially distance and wash/sanitize hands often.

Additionally, BNA President and CEO Doug Kreulen serves on the Governor’s Coronavirus Task Force to enhance Tennessee’s coordinated efforts to prevent, identify and treat potential cases of COVID-19. BNA remains in frequent contact with officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Metro and State Health Departments and relies on the expertise of Dr. Corey Slovis, Medical Director and Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Slovis was instrumental in developing BNA’s Communicable Disease Response Plan for Preventing the Introduction, Transmission and Spread of Communicable Diseases into the US.
BNA stands ready to implement any additional operational changes as directed by medical authorities and encourages the public to follow the prevention advice from the CDC such as wearing a face covering, thorough and frequent hand-washing, avoiding contact with anyone who is sick, practicing social distancing and covering nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing.
