Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority Board Elects New Board Officers

NASHVILLE ─ The Metropolitan Airport Authority (MNAA) Board of Commissioners at the April board meeting unanimously elected Bobby Joslin as its newest chair and re-elected Dexter Samuels to continue in his role as vice chair.

Joslin succeeds Juli Mosley, who had served as chair since 2013. Board officers serve three-year terms. After serving on the MNAA Board of Commissioners for 14 years, Mosley recently announced that she would be retiring from the full board as well.

During the March board meeting, Trey Harwell was elected board secretary.

“In the finest tradition of Nashville community leaders, Juli Mosley has been a remarkable and highly effective chair of our Board of Commissioners,” said Rob Wigington, MNAA president and CEO. “She leaves behind a legacy of grace, accomplishment and inspiration, and we are all deeply grateful for her service. With her term complete, we now move on to a new era of leadership under Chair Bobby Joslin, who brings a wealth of airport and aviation experience and a lifetime of community service to the role.”

Bobby Joslin – Chair

Bobby Joslin was appointed to the board in 2009 and serves as a pilot representative. He is the owner and founder of Joslin and Son Signs. He serves on the State Leadership Council of the National Federation of Independent Business. Joslin is a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Nashville State Technical Community College Business Management Committee, Donelson-Hermitage Chamber of Commerce and Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce. Joslin attended Middle Tennessee State University and Vanderbilt University’s George Peabody College.

A. Dexter Samuels, Ph.D. – Vice Chair

Dexter Samuels was elected vice chair of the MNAA board in 2013. He was appointed to the board in 2007 as a neighborhood representative by then-Mayor Bill Purcell. Samuels is the senior vice president for student affairs, the executive director of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center for Health Policy and a tenured associate professor in the School of Graduate Studies and Research at Meharry Medical College. He is also an adjunct associate professor at Vanderbilt University. Samuels is a graduate of Tennessee State University with a doctorate in Public Administration, Western Kentucky University with a master’s degree in Health Care Administration and Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

Aubrey B. Harwell III – Secretary

Aubrey B. (Trey) Harwell III was appointed to the board in 2013 as the legal representative by then-Mayor Karl Dean. He joined Neal & Harwell in 1996. His principal areas of practice are civil litigation and white-collar criminal defense. Harwell is a member of his firm’s crisis management team and has also conducted numerous independent investigations on behalf of individual and corporate clients throughout the United States. Harwell is a graduate of the Vanderbilt University School of Law and Vanderbilt University with a bachelor’s degree in English.

MNAA Board of Commissioners

A 10-member Board of Commissioners appointed by the mayor of Nashville/Davidson County, and confirmed by the Metropolitan Council, governs the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. The board is composed of three business and finance representatives, two pilot representatives, two neighborhood representatives, one engineering representative, one legal representative, and the mayor.
