Nashville International Airport Adds Two Security Screening Lanes

Additional Screening Lanes Planned Amid Rising Passenger Volumes

NASHVILLE – Nashville International Airport (BNA) has added two security screening lanes for a total of 12 lanes to better accommodate travelers as passenger volumes continue to rise. The additional screening lanes, which became operational today on the south side of the terminal, are expected to help the airport limit wait times to 15 minutes or less on most occasions.

BNA plans to add two more screening lanes by the end of 2018, bringing the total to 14. Additionally, the airport’s security checkpoint will expand to as many as 24 screening lanes by 2023 as part of BNA Vision, the airport’s ongoing growth and expansion project.

Nashville International Airport recently set a new single-day record of 25,795 departing passengers on May 6, breaking last year’s record of 25,024 departing passengers on June 12, 2017, the Monday following the CMA Music Festival and Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. A typical day at BNA is approximately 19,000 departing passengers.

This single-day record is part of an ongoing trend. Nashville International Airport has broken its all-time passenger records for five consecutive calendar years, most recently finishing 2017 with 14.1 million passengers traveling to and from BNA, an increase of more than 1.1 million passengers and an 8.9 percent increase over the previous year. 2017 was also the second calendar year in a row to add more than 1 million additional total passengers.
