Nashville International Airport Prepares for Busy Departure Days

Following music festival conclusions, heavier passenger departure expected June 10 & 11

NASHVILLE ─ Nashville International Airport (BNA) is preparing for increased passenger departure volume following the conclusion of CMA Music Festival and Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. Busier days will be Sunday, June 10, with approximately 22,300 departing passengers, and Monday, June 11, with approximately 26,500 departing passengers. The 2018 passenger projection is a six percent increase over the previous year.

On average, approximately 19,000 passengers are screened each day at the security checkpoint. BNA’s current single-day record is 25,795 screened passengers, which was set May 6, 2018.

BNA recently added two security screening lanes for a total of 12 lanes to better accommodate travelers as passenger volumes continue to rise. The additional screening lanes are located on the south side of the terminal.

The Transportation Security Administration has committed to additional staffing and the use of passenger screening canine teams. The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority will also have additional staff and volunteers onsite to help with any line mitigation, as needed.
