Nashville International Airport Provides Holiday Travel Tips; Prepares for Heavy Passenger Volume Days

NASHVILLE ─ As the holidays approach, Nashville International Airport (BNA) is preparing for a busy travel season. Anticipated heavy passenger volume departure days include Nov. 23 – 25 and Nov. 29 – 30. Heaviest days will see close to 23,000 passengers departing BNA. The 2015 Thanksgiving travel week is shaping up to be the busiest Thanksgiving travel week on record.

Travel Tips:

  • Pack smart by knowing what to pack before you depart. Visit tsa.gov for tips.
  • Check flight status before heading to BNA.
  • All passengers are encouraged to arrive inside the terminal at least two hours before their scheduled flight.
  • Be sure to check your boarding pass before entering the security check point to see if you’ve been selected to participate in TSA Pre✓™ for that particular flight.
  • Mobile boarding passes are accepted at BNA. Passengers can use their smartphones and mobile devices to show their boarding passes and for check-in. For more information, contact your airline carrier.
  • Visit www.flynashville.com for more information and tips.

Services to Note:

  • Free Wi-Fi is available in all areas frequented by the public: gates, concourses, food court, and Ticketing Lobby, Baggage Claim and Ground Transportation levels.
  • TSA Pre✓™ is available at Nashville International Airport. Passengers who are eligible for TSA Pre✓™ may receive expedited screening benefits at the Main Checkpoint. The two outside lanes of each entrance to the security checkpoint are now designated as TSA Pre✓™ lanes for a total of four TSA Pre-check lanes. Visit tsa.gov for more information.
  • TSA Pre✓™ Enrollment Center – The center is located on the Ground Transportation Level, next to the Dollar rental car counter. Hours of operation are Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed 12:30 p.m. – 1 p.m. weekdays and on weekends.
  • Ride-sharing services – BNA is the first airport in the U.S. to allow ride-sharing services, such as Lyft and Uber, to operate at its airport. Passengers wanting to use the new ride-sharing services can be picked up in designated areas on the Commercial Ground Transportation level of the terminal across from Valet and should look for the designated overhead signage.
  • Drinks on the Go – Passengers may carry alcoholic beverages away from the bar and throughout the secure side of the terminal. This means more time to shop, get a massage or manicure, listen to live music, visit the many local art exhibits or enjoy BNA’s free WiFi while at the gate.
  • Skip the mall. Get your holiday shopping done at BNA – Specialty stores like Opry Originals, Nashville Star, Radio Road, Spirit of the Red Horse, Boswell’s Music City Harley-Davidson, Life is Good, Sunglass Hut and more can all be found at Nashville International.

Visitors traveling on I-40 West should use Exit 216.
  • Twenty-minute parking spaces are available in the Short Term Garage. The first 20 minutes in all BNA parking lots is free, but there are also designated 20-minute parking spaces in the Short Term Parking Garage. There are a total of 50 spaces: 14 on Level 1 and 36 on Level 2. All 50 spaces are conveniently located close to the terminal entrance.
  • Solar-powered electric vehicle charging stations now available on top of the Short Term Parking Garage. When vehicles are not charging, power produced by the solar panels feeds into the Short Term Parking Garage to support elements such as lighting and signage.
