Southwest Airlines to Begin Nonstop Service to Minneapolis

NASHVILLE ─ Nashville International Airport (BNA) today announced Southwest Airlines will begin daily nonstop service to Minneapolis and will add an additional flight to Dallas (5x daily), San Antonio (3x daily) and St. Louis (3x daily).

With the opening of Southwest Airlines’ new International Arrivals Building at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport, the airline is also increasing its BNA service to Fort Lauderdale on Saturdays to 5x daily to accommodate additional connections to international destinations such as the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America.

Tickets are now available for purchase to all destinations, and service begins June 4. Southwest Airlines’ seasonal, daily nonstop service to Seattle will also resume on this date.

“Adding additional nonstop service is always a win for our airport and the community we serve.  New service creates more travel options and helps keep air fares competitive,” said Rob Wigington, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. “This summer, Southwest Airlines will have a record 99 daily departures from BNA. We greatly appreciate their unwavering confidence in BNA and Middle Tennessee.”

“Nashville business travelers have been asking for more convenient flight times to and from Minneapolis. We are thrilled Southwest Airlines has once again delivered,” said Tommy Lewis, chair of the Nashville Air Service Coalition and senior vice president of Change Healthcare. “There is considerable connective tissue between Minneapolis and Nashville in the healthcare industry. It is essential to have convenient and affordable air service connecting leading healthcare regions.”

BNA is currently served by 12 airlines and offers 440 daily flights. Nashville International Airport provides nonstop air service to more than 50 destinations.
