Back to School Season is Spring Break Trip Planning Season on Southwest
July 16, 2026
With the first day of school around the corner, the time is approaching to start planning Spring Break 2027 trips and Southwest Airlines® is ready to take Customers to beaches, mountains, and everywhere in between. The carrier’s flight schedule is now available for booking through early April 2027 with record-high departures in Austin and Orlando, along with growth in Nashville and Las Vegas.
Beefing Up in Base Cities
Southwest® is continuing recent investments in its points of strength, including record-high departures in Austin (141 on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays) and Orlando (214 on Saturdays). Two routes touching Austin not currently operated are scheduled to begin service in the second week of March, while two routes connecting the Texas state capital and Colorado mountain locales increase to five times per week service. Highlighted routes include:

Among its most-ever departures at Orlando International Airport is scheduled service three times daily between Orlando and New York (LaGuardia). Additionally, the airline is scheduled to launch once daily service between the Theme Park Capital of the World and Pensacola, Florida.
Other new routes in key Southwest cities include service between:
- Baltimore and Philadelphia
- Twice daily

Over the Oceans
Southwest is scheduled to launch Saturday-only service in March between Nashville and Aruba; Liberia, Costa Rica; Montego Bay, Jamaica; and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and Columbus, Ohio and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
For its Hawaii-mainland service, Southwest is increasing its service between Honolulu and Burbank and Ontario, California to five times per week (every day but Tuesday and Wednesday), as well as adding weekend-only trips between San Diego and Kona and Lihue. Additionally, Southwest is slated to begin its first “reverse redeye” with a 2:45 a.m. local time departure from Las Vegas to Honolulu.
How We Built This
Unlike the complex holiday and shoulder-season schedules that precede it, the March 2027 schedule contains four unique schedules based on day of week. Each day of the week features an increase in daily flights compared to the March 2026 schedule.
The schedule for Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays is slated at more than 4,400 flights each day and the carrier will offer more than 4,300 flights on Sundays. The Tuesday/Wednesday and Saturday schedules – traditionally lower-demand travel days – are slated for equal departures at just more than 4,000 each day.
