Airport Department of Public Safety Set for Law Enforcement Reaccreditation Assessment
Public Call-In Session for Comments on August 10, 2021
NASHVILLE–As part of a voluntary process to gain reaccreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®), the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority’s (MNAA) Department of Public Safety is undergoing a rigorous assessment to maintain this highly prized certification.
CALEA® is a credentialing authority, whose primary mission is to accredit public safety agencies, namely law enforcement agencies, training academies, communications centers, and campus public safety agencies.
Part of the assessment protocol is an opportunity for agency personnel and members of the community to provide comments by calling 615-275-4312 on August 10, 2021, between 10 a.m.-noon. There is also a virtual session on August 10 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m.
Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA® Standards. To review a copy of the standards and/or to receive information to participate in the virtual session, contact Chief David Griswold at 615-275-1703.
The accreditation program requires agency to comply with standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operation and support services.
For more information regarding CALEA®, contact the Commission at 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320 Gainesville, Virginia 20155; or call (703) 352-4225 or email calea@calea.org.
