Passenger Volume and Nonstop Service at BNA® on the Rise

Passenger Numbers Higher than Pre-Pandemic Levels; Record Number of Nonstop Markets

NASHVILLE – Passenger volume continues to increase at Nashville International Airport®, with the average number of screened departures currently at 25,124 per day, which is greater than the 2019 pre-pandemic high of an average of 23,543 passengers per day. Additionally, the number of nonstop routes is at a record high of service to 88 markets.

“As the pandemic wanes, confidence has returned to air travel in Middle Tennessee, proving the strength of our market,” said Doug Kreulen, president and CEO of BNA. “We remain committed to working with our airline partners to provide a full range of travel options, and we foresee a bright future.”

Additional notes include:

• Daily commercial airline departures have increased to 251 departures per day, up from the pandemic low of 78 departures per day and just below BNA’s all-time high of 272 daily departures.

• For July 2021, comparing the seats coming into and out of BNA, the airport is the 24th largest in the United States, up from being 31st pre-pandemic.

With the increase in passenger traffic, it’s important for travelers to plan ahead. BNA offers the following summer travel tips:

BEFORE YOU GO:
• Bring a mask or face covering, which is required in the terminal and on parking shuttles by federal law. If you need one, BNA offers free face coverings at security checkpoints and on parking shuttles.
• Arrive early. Leave yourself plenty of time to park, check-in and get to your gate—there are changes to the terminal that you might not be familiar with.
• Allow extra time for parking. Visit https://flynashville.com/park-at-bna for available parking options. Heavier passenger volume means more people are parking. Those areas will be busy. Remember to build in extra time for this.
• Pack smart. Familiarize yourself with packing do’s and don’ts at https://www.tsa.gov/travel/travel-tips.
• Check flight status on your airline’s website or at https://flynashville.com/flights.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE:
• The airport has temporarily split into two terminals (North and South). Know your airline and follow signs to the terminal that matches. Additional changes include:
o There are now two security checkpoints: North Security (A and B gates) and South Security (C and D gates), located at the far north and south ends of the Departures level. The central checkpoint has closed.
o Airline ticket counters have moved to the north and south ends of the Ticketing Lobby. View locations here: https://map.flynashville.com.
o The terminal entrance/exit on Level 1 (ground floor) has moved to the sides of the building. The old entrance at the center of the building has closed.
o Escalators and elevators are located just inside the Level 1 entrance. Have a lot of bags? Take the elevator to Level 3.
• Go to the correct security checkpoint. It is vital to go to the correct checkpoint:
o North Security for A and B gates, and South Security for C and D gates. For more: https://bnavisionnashville.com/construction/
o Know your airline and which terminal it uses. Please note: There is no passage between the North and South terminals past the security checkpoints.
o North Terminal (A and B gates): Air Canada, Boutique Air, British Airways, Cape Air, Charters, Contour, Delta, Frontier, Jet Blue, Spirit, Sun Country, United, Viva Aerobus, West Jet
o South Terminal (C and D gates): Alaska, Allegiant, American, Southwest
