BNA Celebrates Opening of Bigger, Better Live Music Stage
NASHVILLE – June 9, 2017 – The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNNA) today celebrated the grand opening of the newly renovated and expanded live music stage in the Concourse C Food Court at Nashville International Airport (BNA).
The event included live performances from San Rafael Band, Nashtones and the BNA All-Star Band. 2 Steel Girls, the first and only mother-daughter duo to appear as finalists on NBC’s The Voice, and personally mentored by music star, Blake Shelton, also performed at the grand opening.
At 17ft by 9ft, this is the largest BNA stage to date and allows for a 4 or 6-piece band to fit comfortably. The audio and visual components have been upgraded to fully digital, which allows BNA to operate the system from a tablet or smartphone, and a 75-inch LED TV and two 65-inch LED TVs have been added to broadcast the live performance, ultimately reaching more viewers. All stage lighting has been converted to LED lighting, which is more environmentally friendly and cost effective.
“We are Music City, and live music is a crucial part of who we are, and what we are known for,”
said Rob Wigington, MNAA president and CEO. “From the moment a passenger steps foot into BNA, we want them to experience the true spirit of Nashville.. This new stage, along with our other live music stages, makes our airport different from any other in the nation, and reflects the pride we have for our city.”
BNA includes six performance areas throughout the terminal, which feature more than 700 performances each year from a variety of genres.
BNA has received international recognition for its reflection of Music City within terminal walls. Buzzfeed featured BNA in 19 Airports You Wouldn’t Mind Being Stuck In, highlighting the live music, Jettsetter.com named BNA’s live music one of the 9 Craziest Things to Do at an Airport, and The Huffington Post included BNA’s live music and Bonnaroo exhibits as part of its 6 Things to Do If You’re Stranded at the Airport.
“Over the years, we’ve had a number of great artists and bands perform on our live music stages,” said Wigington. “The addition of the Music Stage ensures we continue this tradition and enhance the Nashville Airport Experience for our travelers.”
