Beginning Feb. 1, 2026, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will implement new federal identification requirements at security checkpoints.

Travelers who do not present an acceptable ID—including state driver’s licenses or IDs that are not REAL ID–compliant—will be directed to TSA’s optional ConfirmID identity‑verification process.

Passengers who choose to complete TSA ConfirmID will be charged a $45 fee. Access to the process is provided directly through tsa.gov, where travelers can follow TSA’s instructions to verify their identity.

TSA reports that the identity‑verification process typically takes 10–15 minutes, though it may take 30 minutes or longer depending on screening conditions.

Please note: TSA ConfirmID is optional and is entirely administered and enforced by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you choose not to use it and do not have an acceptable ID, TSA may deny entry to the security checkpoint, which could prevent you from boarding your flight.

BNA® does not enforce this policy; all decisions are made solely by TSA.

TSA urges all airline travelers to complete the following three steps in advance of any air travel on or after Feb 1: Check your ID, Use TSA ConfirmID, Bring your Receipt
